Nicole Hennington spent her first two decades in Arizona where she graduated from the University of Arizona with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Finance. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Gertrude Shurr Award, an award given to acknowledge passionate artistry and excellence in modern dance. During this time, she also studied with Chuthis., Nederlands Dans Theatre, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, New Dialect, and Ate9. 

 

In 2018, Nicole joined Cleveland-based dance company, GroundWorks DanceTheater. During her four seasons with the company, she performed in new creations and collaborated with choreographers such as James Gregg, Peter Chu, Brian Brooks, Antonio Brown, Robyn Mineko-Williams, Dianne McIntyre, Hannah Garner,  Adam Barruch, and more. In her final season, Nicole was GroundWorks' rehearsal assistant.

 

In the summer of 2022, Nicole attended Springboard Dans Montréal where she worked with RUBBERBAND Dance Group and UNA Productions. 

 

Nicole is currently based in Portland, OR where she dances with NW Dance Project. Since joining in 2023, Nicole has danced in original works by Ihsan Rustem, Joseph Hernandez, Nicole Von Arx, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Caroline Finn, Bryan Arias, and Serge Bennathan. 

As a choreographer, Nicole was commissioned by GroundWorks DanceTheater in 2022. In 2023, she was a choreographer for the Inaugural Carmel Dance Festival's Dance & Choreography Fellowship Program and choreographed on NW Dance Project as well as their Summer Dance Platform program.  In 2020, Nicole collaborated with videographer, Cory Sheldon, to create “Between Presence," which was selected to be played at Midwest RAD Fest and Highland Film Festival in  2022.
